Hi all,

I'm planning on upgrading my Merom 2.16GHz C2D X1600 15" MBP to a new unibody MBP (15" base model). I've read a couple of posts of people complaining about the screen of the new MBP, about it being worse than the Dell Mini 9 and so on.

I would like to know a couple of things and I'm hoping you can help..

1) How can you determine which panel/screen you have in your MBP via software (without opening up the case)? I've read the Tom's Hardware MB review and the author lists precisely the panel/manufacturer of his screen and I wonder how he managed to do that.

2) I guess that Apple uses more than 1 panel in it's MBPs, is there a known better panel? For example in the MacBook, the AUO screen (9C8C) is considered to be superior to the LG-Philips (9C89).

3) Overall, are you pleased with the 9600GT? The X1600 does H.264 hardware acceleration, but is kind slow for gaming (WoW). I'm really hoping for a better GPU here.

4) Any issues with mini-displayport connectivity to an HDTV? My current MBP is hooked up to a Sony Bravia W3000 and it's flawless in 1080p via a simple HDMI->DVI cable. I expect the same from the mini-DP adaptor on the new unibody...

Thank you!
