15" mid-2012 unibody internal monitor goes black when external plugged in

I have been using this MBP as my streaming device, to a 49" LG 4K TV, for more than a year, and it just started this problem.

I recently upgraded the OS to High Sierra, and had no issues for over a week.

A few days ago, I had a low battery shut down, while in normal internet browsing laptop mode (not streaming), and the first bug was that my Bose noise canceling headphones forgot the computer name, and now the headphones call it "Apple bluetooth device" - don't know if the issues are related.

Any theories on how to solve my problem would be greatly appreciated.
