That's stinks. I don't want to go to 1680-by-1050 because that is what my 20" Imac is, and that resolution crammed into 15" makes everything too small for me. But I hate the glossy screens and want matte!! Argh...
 
You can try putting a AG film on it. They aren't very expensive.
Just stay away from the crappy iVisor AG. That one is easy to apply but it sucks. The ones that work are quite difficult to apply without bubbles but it is not that hard and you can try multiple times. I managed first try.

Interesting, never heard of this AG film. I'd be a bit reluctant to use it, seems a bit sketchy. I'll have to do some research... thanks!
