Probably both. If you need one right away I was able to order one last week from PCVideoMall.com for only $2449.00. I lucked out and got a perfect one (no broken hinge, no white spots, and no dead pixels)... I'm knocking on wood as I write this because I'll probably see white spots show up on it right as I submit this post.
I think high demand combined with replacements on a lot of screens has caused Apple's suppliers to run out of LCD screens for them.
