15" PB w/ 4:3 external display??

I have tried searching the forums, yet I have found no information regarding the image quality when using the 15" PowerBook connected to say the 17" Apple Display. For clamshell operation, will the screen appear distorted, or is there little need to worry. I mainly ask this because I am debating the 15" PB or 12" PB with an external display (keeping my wallet in mind). Thanks.

no problems

it doesn't distort, it senses what display you have attached and uses the appropriate aspect ratio, I use my aging TiBook DVI with my old 17" studio display both in clamshell and extended desktop modes and have never had a prob..

hopefully the apple displays will get some revamping by the end of the summer.
