I got a new Powerbook 15" 1.25 with a fast hdd this friday (04/12/03).

On top of the screen issue posted by technocoy, which I also have (not so much a smile as an upturned lip, no gap on left 2-3mm gap on right)

MY PB DOESN'T LIKE RESTARTING

I'll hit restart and it takes an age just to shut down, then it sounds like either the hard-disk or optical drive stays on for a further 2-5 minutes. After which it wont restart. I try to use the power key, but it usually takes another 5 minutes at least before it responds?

I'm on the second software restore, and each time I've updated all software.

Soz for the long opening but, what's goin on? Anyone else experiencing this.

Chiz for any replies

Sounds like a hardware issue... shut downs take a while (35 seconds to 1 minute) but any longer than that, you should take it in.

thanks eddie,

my thoughts too. I'll phone applecare 2morrow

seems like apple's having some kind of distribution problem over here in the UK with PB's also, I've been waiting for this machine since a week after announce day (small reseller)

yeah macs take 30 secs - a minute to shutdown, who's wishin' for system seven in that respect??? and don't get me started on startup times (camp voice over...)
