I’ll fly through my take on it.

Pros:

  • Camera is noticeably better (this was the main factor for me, I obsess over the camera)
  • Weight reduction is appreciated, still feels premium in my opinion
  • Screen uniformity and color rendering is better than my 13
  • The blue is my favorite shade of blue
  • Faster on WiFi, not sure about 5G
  • USB C is appreciated
  • Charging limit is nice
Cons:

  • The island is a couple pixels lower on the screen than the notch (really a non issue but like I said, I obsess)
  • Price to performance gained ratio is questionable, I’m still on the fence about going back to the 13. I don’t think this is a good upgrade if you have a 14.
  • Reports of fragility, guess we’ll see over the coming weeks if there are posts of people with broken back glass
  • Im so used to quickly opening the camera, etc. the old way that I haven’t naturally used the action button yet

In theory, the Qualcomm x70 that comes with the 15 should be much better than what was in the 13 - better reception at the edge of service, better aggregation for 5G bands, and generally just improved. It will depend on your carrier, location and a bunch of other factors

It is - our 14 PM was noticeably faster on 5G than 13PM, but 15PM pushes another +25% speed on 5G versus 14 PM.
But if you have 100% reception here and there then the difference is not quite drastic.

I have a 15PM Blue that I upgraded from a 13PM.

Zero issues with the 15. No screen problems, no sharp edges, no performance problems.

Agree with your list but feel it was a good upgrade and I’m very happy. And if the 16 is ground breaking next year, at least the value of this phone will make the trade up a better deal I guess.

For many of us 5G is one of those things we only ever experience if we go into a major city. 4G is still patchy, so these little improvements on smartphones are rarely tested to their full potential.

Was an interesting one, even when I watched Mrwhosetheboss battery test, I expected the 15 Pro Max with its new and supposedly more efficient 3nm chip to absolutely obliterate the 13 Pro Max in battery life and yet what separates them is just a few minutes…

Im coming from a 13 Pro Max to a 15 Pro Max and am in two minds. It really doesn't feel like much of an upgrade. Speakers and Screen are better on my 13 Pro Max. In terms of performance, the 15 feels lightning quick but doing a full factory wipe and reset on my 13 Pro Max would make it quicker anyway. Am finding it hard to justify the upgrade and am thinking of returning the 15.

You think the screen and speakers are better on your iPhone 13 Pro Max? I’m pretty sure the screen on my iPhone 15 Pro is better than the screen on my iPhone 13 Pro. Maybe I’m just imagining it, but it sure seems like it.

Con: It's still too heavy. Lighter than a 14 PM? Yeah, so what? A brick is lighter than a cinderblock. I don't want to carry either one around.

Dynamic island is just stupid. It's annoying and doesn't do anything that I couldn't before.

I actually like the weight of my 14 Pro, makes it feel more premium and also the 15 Pro isn’t a big enough upgrade.

Hmm funny you mention the speakers, I am probably just imagining it but I also thought the 13PM had better sounding speakers as well.

The screens are very similar, but my 13PM has a less warm tone (even with True Tone on). They are both the same brightness & there isn’t much difference in them. Colours may be slightly richer on the 15PM but only at certain brightness levels. However there is panel to panel variance so it could just be that. Basically there’s nothing in the screen to warrant the upgrade IMO
