I’m considering getting the iPhone air and moving from my iPhone 15 Pro but wanted to check a couple of things before pulling the trigger…

I use MagSafe most the time to charge but noticed this is leaving marks for some folks. Are people seeing this much or is it a non issue?

The other question is the camera, specifically lack of lidar. I understand this helps focus in low light. Is anyone seeing an impact here or do other improvements negate the need for this.

I guess it won’t do AR due to missing lidar but this won’t be an issue in day to day.

I went from a 15 PM to the white Air. I have not had any issues with MagSafe scuffing the back, but I tend to use a fast charger more now through USB C as the phone uses more battery and therefore it's more convenient to do fast charging.

I've not had any problems with the camera, but of course you have to make your peace with only having the single focal length. Most of my photos are in daylight and in general they have been great. My wife does have the new 17 PM and it is of course better at the same focal length, but the Air has a good camera.

The Air is a better phone than the 15 PM and that's what makes it work for me. If you are coming from a newer model I wouldn't bother.

I’ve only seen the marks on display models and that’s because they’re sitting on a really strong MagSafe version all day every day. I queried the employee at the Apple Store and they took a cleaning cloth on one of the ones that had the circular impression and it wiped off. My simple logic to your dilemma is that if you’re considering the air then spend $100 more for no compromise and get the smaller pro. You’re getting over a 1000 mah more battery, all the cameras, the unbinned A19 pro chip, the LiDAR as you mentioned, and the port will be usb3 with 40x faster speeds than the port on the air.

That’s good to hear. As said I’m coming from an IP15 Pro.

I rarely use macro or telephoto so think the one camera will be ok 99% of the time. Of course on the 1% I will no doubt kick myself :)

It’s the low light focusing (lack of lidar) I was most concerned on and to a lesser extent the portrait photos as I use this quite a bit.

I guess software accommodates in portrait but not sure how photos compare in low light (air v 15 pro).

Anyone compared this at all?
