Hey guys

I'm about to perform a thermal paste swap on my 15" rMBP for the first time, using this tutorial:

https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Pro+15-Inch+Retina+Display+Mid+2012+Heat+Sink+Replacement/10293

I'm using:
ARCTIC MX-4 Thermal Paste
Arctic Clean Thermal Material Cleaner & Surface Purifier Kit (to clean the surface of the heat sink and processor before reapplying thermal paste)

So before I perform this procedure, seeing as this is my first time ever opening up my MacBook, or any laptop in general, I'd like to be extra careful so I don't break anything. I'm looking for any helpful tips, or just things I should be careful or wary about. ANY advice would be appreciated.

Thank you :)

That paste is conductive. Just avoid getting it anywhere but on the dies of the CPU & GPU. It doesn't take much for it to spread when the heatsink is placed back on.

Good luck and post back some before/after temps when you're done.

Will do! I should be receiving all the tools I need next week, so I'll keep you updated with the results after I'm done.
