I am assisting my father in selecting a new Apple laptop and it is between the 15 Inch classic Macbook Pro and the Retina Macbook Pro. He likes the resolution of the 15" classic macbook pro (1440x900). I am wondering how the icon sizes and/or size of the text displayed on the retina screen compares to the classic macbook screen? Will everything appear smaller on the retina display? Or is everything scaled for the retina display. Thanks.

The resolution will be identical in every way on the Retina MacBook Pro (1440x900), only the display will much more crisp due to pixel quadrupling. Icon and text size will be the same.

Same Size >> retina looks better, sharper, easier on the eyes... (4pixels per 1 non-retina pixel)

Same size - just like on the iPhone 4 and iPad 3
