Hey,

I'm needing to buy a replacement for the Mac listed in my signature due to liquid killing it and Apple wanting $1500 to fix.

I'm leaning toward the 13 inch tbMBP with an i5, 8gb ram and a 512 ssd.

I don't do much processor intensive stuff honestly; Browsing, some video streaming, iTunes, messages, photos, and I do run Parallels with one VM on my 2014 MBP but that'll change as soon as I can get some important stuff out of my backup.

Is the model I'm looking at going to be adequate? I'd assume it will.

It will be more than powerful enough, the little 13 with quad core packs a punch. I use mine with VMware to run a single Vm instance. I have both 15" and the 13" and love both.

the 13" is more then up to the task, the only question is the screen size. Going to a 13" from a 15" may require a level of adjustment. I personally had difficulty with that, but others may not. I just wanted to that out there.

Yeah, normally that'll be a concern but since my 15" died I've been using a 2009 13" MBP and I actually like the screen size better, tbh.
