iPhone 12 Pro $150 T-mobile credit - apple.com order- How?

So I have read the other threads and am at a loss on how to get the additional $150 credit via a pre-paid debit card from T-mobile.

I purchased/pre-orderd a new Iphone 12 pro max (the "tmobile" version). When I was processing my pre-order via the apple store app I selected the phone, and then it took me to the account info page. I was not able to "activate now" because it would not accept my phone number and pin, so I selected activate later option. I paid in full for the new phone. I received my iphone 12 pro max and it had a T-mobile sim card preinstalled. I called T-mobile and migrated my new phone to my T-mobile account, using my existing phone number and the preinstalled sim card. BTW 5G is super fast

I asked the T-mobile rep about the promo and he told me to contact apple. I chatted with apple and they told me to contact T-mobile?!?!

I tried the T-mobile promotions page. I search via my phone number, and then it asks me to log in. I log in and the it says "Opps. Something went wrong".

This is the promo code in other threads but I never get the option to type it in. 2020APPLERETAILT1

I will return my trade in (XS max) to apple this week, but how does T-mobile know to send me the $150 prepaid card? I need to apply for the promo but cant via the website??

Thoughts? Anyone in this boat?

UPDATE - Finally spoke to someone at T-Mobile.
They have an internal document that says that "prepaid lines are not eligible for this offer".
Not worth the upgrade to postpaid for the offer (even if it was an option)...

Sucks because no where in the public fine print did I read it had to be a post paid account. (that I saw)
