10w charger adapter on iphone 4

I have an iphone 4 with ios 6.0.1 and an Ipad 3,is it safe if I charge the iphone with the ipad adapter?is there going to be any improvements,is the iphone going to charge faster,is the iphone going to be hotter,is the iphone going to burst into flames? I know,there are a lot of questions but I want everything to be fine.

I do it from time to time. It's a hotter faster charge. It's really not good for overall battery health, but it won't explode.

You'll hit your half life faster.

Simply not true. The device dictates the power draw, not the charger. The iPhone is drawing 5W, not 10. Look on apples website, the 10W power adapter is compatible with the iPhone 4. The same goes for the 12W.

The official answer and the position of any EE engineer is that the iPhone has a circuit that limits the current that the iPhone draws from the charger, hence it's totally safe to use the 10W charger.

The observation of anybody who actually tried it is that the iPhone charges faster, gets hotter while doing so and the battery life degrades over time, where switching back to the 5W charger will counter that to some extend.
