Hi All,

First thread on here, im currently waiting on a 2012 iMac order being processed in the meantime i bought the LaCie drive to use for my windows install.

Received it today along with a new 13" MacBook Air!

Tests are as follows:

USB3 - 241MB/s Write, 436MB/s Read

Thunderbolt - 250MB/s Write, 381MB/s Read

Now i thought thunderbolt was supposed to be a lot faster than USB3, This shows otherwise.

All in all im happy with the USB3 performance of the drive as its not too far off the spec of the actual SSD inside but i did expect more from the Thunderbolt.

Anyone else have any experience with USB3 vs Thunderbolt or a possible expantion for this?

Thanks for Reading

With just a single drive (even an SSD) they are pretty close. You'd have to have a RAID array (like a Lacie Little Big Disk) to see Thunderbolt really pull ahead.
