This might have already been asked somewhere but I can't find.

I recently aquired my fathers old Macbook Pro and have been trying to change the Home Folder name, but so far no luck.
:apple:
Here is a screenshot where the home folder's are with red outline.

Can someone please help me out and show me how to change the home folder's names. I already tried running as root and that didn't work either. If you need more info. please let me know.
Thanks,
JR

Here's a posting on the Apple Communities Forum that address what you are trying to do, I think.

System Preferences > Sharing > Change computer name top of dialogue box

Changing the computer name changes the Home Folder name.

Nope, it does not, unless Apple has changed that in one of its recent updates.

The computer name is visible to file sharing clients connected to the Mac on the same network, the home directory name is the shortname of the account name.

Yep, you are right. Took me a bit to figure it out but I see what you are talking about. I did qualify my response with, I think. Thanks
