I keep getting this error once I start Cydia, I cant search anything or download.
Message:
"The package com.memdefrag needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it."
whats going on?
Try uninstalling the memory defrag app/tweak or reinstall it?
where is that at?
Are you able to see the packages you have installed when inside cydia?
PROBLEM SOLVED.
Those facing the same problem, who have Mobile Terminal installed, typ the following;
su (and enter password, alpine by default)
dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq com.memdefrag
dkpg --configure -a
This will do the trick. Don't make any typo's!
If you don't have Mobile Terminal installed, you can do the same through SHSH. Not sure if the commands are the same then...
Thread can be closed!
if you have ifile, you can download the mobileterminal deb file here and install it: http://apt.thebigboss.org/repofiles/cydia/debs2.0/mobileterminal_520-2.deb
if you don't have ifile, you could use something like ifunbox to help you install the deb file
from the link given above: http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/72333-com-memdefrag-error.html
i'm sure the person meant SSH, not SHSH (for those who don't know and are confused)
I'm assuming Ill download the file with safari and ifile will open it? Where would i place it after that? under the mobile folder??
yes, download with safari and click open with ifile or something like that. once it opens with ifile, just click installer when the ifile opens and the options pop up and it'll install mobileterminal. you can delete the deb file afterwards (it'll go to the "trash" folder by default (i think_ when deleting with ifile so you'll want to delete it from the trash folder if you want the free space back)
download it did what u said but the error is still there. It installed in the mobile/document folder
after you install mobile terminal, you need to run the command link to remove this offending package
Got it, had to respring to get it to come up, alright will follow.
Thanks for the help.
edit: wow thanks! It helped alot. Would rep you if we had that.
Pretty much any time you install a deb file via iFile you need to respring. Just a little heads up for the future 😀
