on Windows there are apps especially made to record sound on skype.

There is an app. It's called Call Recorder for Skype. It's by Ecamm, so you can Google for the link of their website. They can even record the video for you!

The downside to this, though, is that it's $19.95. They do provide a free demo, so I suggest you try that out first.

I don't know of any that are free - but you can't go wrong with Piezo by Rogue Amoeba. It's 15 bucks, specifically mentions Skype recording and it even covers different apps. It works really good. I use it all the time for dirt simple recording.

Rogue Amoeba makes great Mac apps overall.
