This post from MacRumors today is revealing. “Apple Pulls iOS 16.2 Option to Upgrade to New Home Architecture”.
I am thinking there are issues with the new home architecture that was pushed with HomePod 16.2, e.g. my defective siri request results. Looking for subsequent HomePod software for the fix, hopefully soon.
you can pick what music and where to play it, and a volume if you want. you don't have to include lights or anything besides the music if you don't want.
then just ask siri for that scene.
your issue could also be due to changes made for the upcoming Apple Music classical app that's coming sometime
