16.4.1: Gmail not showing new emails--unless I open the app, then the new emails appear?

I had the same issue. Delete gmail app. Hard restart a few times then re install gmail app. It works after doing this

I’m experiencing the same. But on 16.4, I only just noticed there’s another iOS update. And I have an iPhone 7 on iOS 15.7.? And there it’s happening too, so it seems like it is a google problem?
