Do you think apple will change the aspect ratio in the near future to 16:9?

Would you appreciate this ratio in the upcomping mbp? HP and now Lenovo already did the swap...

Isn't it currently 16:10? How much of a difference will going to 16:9 make?

I sure hope not. There are huge benefits to WORKING with 16:10. The only benefit of 16:9 is watching a movie.

Since everyone in here always complains about the vertical screen space lost in switching to 16:9, why not have apple switch to a 9:16 aspect ratio? :D

I really hope Apple does not follow the pack and use 16:9. The only benefit is to the bottom line since there supposedly cost less to manufacture.

The golden ratio 16:10 is indeed golden and is recurring in nature and architecture. I scroll up and down and even now keep my dock on the side not the bottom of my screen to maximize space. Also, as a photographer, at least 35% of my pictures are verticals and I hate losing the vertical space.

I also watch my movies on a television not a laptop.

Depending on if Apple does this is might delay my timing for an upgrade. It ain't broke, so don't fix it

Actually, come to think of it, I think you could say 16:9 probably isn't coming since Apple has made it clear that Blu Ray is not a priority. Obviously in the MBA, the need for a 16:9 screen may be virtually non-existent

16:10 1920*1200 on 15 inch PLZZZZZ

I have good vision, but dang those are painful to look at. I imagine it would be nice for photography or if the OS had any sort of resolution independence (please do this apple, I will love you if you do), but text is teeny.

I really do like the 16:10 as well. I think it looks better, and is certainly more useful than 16:9. For those who doubt, try excel. Losing vertical pixels is killer when working in any productivity suite, and is most certainly annoying when web browsing. I would say even 4:3 is better, but it's rare to find a 4:3 display anymore, let alone in a reasonably high resolution. Most were 1280x1024, which is actually 5:4, and most displays now beat that.

I don't mind the 16:9 so much on desktops which are typically 1080p or better, as they still have a respectable res, but on laptops which are already limited in resolution, taking away vertical space is killer.

Please no, not 16:9 - the display ratio was one of the reasons I chose a MBP. If I have a bit more black at the top/bottom of my screen when I play a movie, who cares?!

You saw that cartoon from 1959 too. Donald Duck in Mathmagic Land... here is the part where the golden ratio is explained...

One of my favorites from when I was a kid.
