So I'm pretty angry at how unreliable my 16 has been so far. Wifi drops a fair amount and it seems like whenever its sleeping while plugged in for awhile I'll open my computer to find that its restarting because it crashed. Anyone have a fix for this? At this rate I'm going to try to get a refund with Apple because this computer is way too expensive to have this critical failures constantly.

There are numerous complaints about this kind of crashing that seem to be related to current OS. See if they look familiar and act accordingly.

Mine has had this issue daily since 10.15.1 (factory OS) but upgraded to 10.15.3 and has this issue about once a week now.

Afraid of 10.15.4....🥶

My brand new 16” does this 100% of the time. I’m needing to do school from home and I’ll leave projects up on the desk top (I save but still annoying) and come back and it’s restarted due to a crash. I have to reopen everything, reorganize my desk top. I can’t leave anything open if I’ll be away from. The computer more than a few minutes. I’m in my return window, but I won’t have a computer if I return it and wait for a refund. Has there been any more info on this?

Same problem here unfortunately. Was using the 2019 15" until I finally had an issue with the keyboard. Apple were great and replaced it with a new 16" (higher spec!) on the spot. The 16" was fine for a few weeks but now I'm getting this same issue where it won't sleep overnight without restarting in the morning when trying to wake it. Doesn't feel great when leaving something important open overnight knowing it will more than likely not be there the next morning. I've reached out to the same team who were happy to replace the 15" with the 16". I feel it has something to do with the dedicated GPU, hopefully another replacement might help.

FYI, a colleague of mine had this issue since his was new and about a month ago he made an appointment at the Apple store and they determined it to be a hardware issue. They replaced the notebook with a brand new one on the spot as he was within a month of purchase. They didn't say specifically the issue, but we suspected it was T2 chip related.

His was the i9/32GB/5500m 8GB/2TB model - four of us bought this identical spec at the same time and only his had the issue.

Mine is the exact same spec. Has he had any issues with the replacement?

Smooth sailing ever since - I'd contact Apple and see if there's anything they can do during the pandemic, I know at least on the iOS side of things they're dropshipping iPhone replacements but it might be more complicated with a MBP.

Try turning off Power Nap in System Preferences. I havent been getting any crashes for a week now. 10.15.4..

Talked with Apple Support, did the Recovery, Reinstall OS, still having the issue. They are currently 'investigating' my MBP and will hear back next week.

I just got 16" two days ago and have had it crash while sleeping 4 times already. I'm returning it for a new one. Hopefully the new one doesn't have this issue.

Thanks for the info everyone. I've been submitting my crash reports everytime and trying my best to document the issues I've been having. Even developed some crazy mouse issues now where sometimes when I wake it up the mouse isn't lining up properly with where it actually is on the OS. I really want to return this computer and get a new one, was going to wait out the pandemic but I guess I should just contact support and see what they can do for me. It's insane to spend so much on a defective computer.
