Hey guys

I am totally new to this page, so bear with me if I'm posting in the wrong sub forum.
I am also totally new to owning an Apple computer, but I've used my gf's old Macbook Pro for a few years.
I got a very good deal on the new Macbook Pro 16", so I jumped on it.
I'm a Windows stationary gamer by heart, so will have Windows bootcamped sideloaded with macOS.

I plan to replace my now outdated stationary with the Macbook Pro for primary gaming. I never game demanding titles and I always value framerate over quality.

  1. Can I with an eGPU run G-Sync in Windows Bootcamp?
  2. Does an eGPU with a nice design exists? I'm thinking of Apple standards with one aluminum piece in the Apple silver color?

Thank you in advance

/David

Try without an egpu first and then report back here.
I'm unsure about what you are trying to say here. I don't need to try anything - I need to know if an eGPU with a nVidia card in it, will support G-Sync in Bootcamp.

For G-Sync check this out :
Regarding your 2nd question it's gonna be hard to find a decent eGPU solution with NVIDIA for that

if you want g-sync you need external monitor compatible with g-sync and NVDIA GPU, on AMD Radeon you can get FreeSync with compatible monitor

Take a look at this website eGPU.io. A lot of build tested (even with the new MacBook Pro in MacOS and W10 with BootCamp), a nice forum and some useful guide.

Hi Kiki
Yes I know that. I have a G-Sync ultrawide 1440p monitor I wanted to run with the Macbook Pro in 100hz.

Nice Beppedessi - thank you for that page! I will definitely look at the guides and reviews :)

Seriously, try without any eGPU first. The 5300M/5500M are monsters (relatively speaking).

I am going to game on it on the go, and I know it's going to be just fine. But with a 3440x1440 ultrawide monitor at home, I know I'm going to need an eGPU to consistently get 100 fps (100hz monitor) which is important for me, in say shooters - but also just for all around fluency.
I have also been a big fan of G-Sync so far, so that would optimally be best. But I am not shy of selling the monitor and picking up a better looking FreeSync monitor.

Depending on the titel you will have a very hard time doing so. I have 120hz 3440x1440 and a 2080 TI and that is struggling at times. You will always loose about 20% performance with an external one compared to using it regularly.

Yes, that is why I know that when people say "try without eGPU", that they have good intentions. But in reality I know I need an eGPU to get the performance I want.
Again, I don't play demanding games, and I also always prefer frames over quality.
