Hi All,

I have 2.4 Ghz, 32 GB Ram, Radeon 5500 8 GB configuration. The two games I am trying to play so far crash regularly: Tropico 6 and Civilization VI. Looking through the crash reports, I don't see much that's machine specific. I see some references to the Radeon. I wonder if these are caused by poor drivers, other hardware, or software? And if anyone else has any information.

Tropico 6 crashes consistently about 2 minutes after launch.
Civilization VI crashes after either about 90 minutes of play (which makes me fear this is happening from overheating—although the crash reports say threading issues or illegal memory access) or when loading a file.

More worryingly, earlier (like last week and yesterday) crashes of Civilization VI would just kick me back to the finder, but tonight it locked up so badly 3 times (I gave up now, not worth playing) that the computer became completely unresponsive and I had to hard reset by holding down the power button. Crash logs did not well record these events from what I can tell. One time when it restarted, the computer then completely shut down and restarted on its own when I wasn't doing anything—that sounds like overheating to me...

Is there anything I can find in a log file if an overheating event occurs?

I've been able to solve the problem with Civilization VI by switching to the OpenGL renderer from the Metal Renderer (you can do this in settings when the launcher opens).
