Heyo, so I bought a 16” base configuration model MBP a couple weeks ago. The two prong connector it comes with was constantly falling out of the outlet I plug it into, so I bought the charger extension cable that is a three pong connector with a very sturdy looking cable directly from Apple’s website.

today, it no longer charges with the three prong extension cable, does not even recognize it, but I popped the two prong charger bit back on the power brick, and my MacBook Pro dinged that it recognized the charger once more.

does the extension cable accessory not work well with the 16” MBP, or did I get a bad extension cable? I’m totally confused.

It could be one of three things:
The brick
The extension cable
The outlet

Yeah, checked the outlet, and then I checked the brick by plugging the two prong connector the MBP came with into it, and that demonstrated the brick was fine, so extension cable is the source of my mild frustration.

Seems that way. (If you're near an Apple Store, you can take it in and exchange it and try it in the store.)

Yeah, I called AppleCare and they’re mailing a new extension cable out to me. Mildly irritating that this needs to be replaced, but whatever. It’s done.

Ignoring the fact that the outlet needs to be replaced.
