I've got a MBP 16" from November 2019 that just popped up "Service Recommended" for the battery today.

I understand that happens when capacity drops below 80% of original, and according to CoconutBattery I'm at 79.6% capacity after 190 load cycles. It seems like my battery life started dropping off fairly quickly. From my CoconutBattery recordings:

July 2020: 96% (78 load cycles)
October 2020: 88% (134 load cycles)
December 2020: 87% (172 load cycles)
January 2021: 79% (190 load cycles)

I HAVE been using the battery more in this time, so it's not entirely unexpected.

I have AppleCare and a business support plan. At this point in time I'm not worried about getting the battery replaced or anything, I'm just wondering if I go to Apple in another 1-1.5 years, before AppleCare expires, what's the likelihood of me getting a battery replacement covered?

"Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original charge capacity at its maximum cycle count, which is 1000 for Macbook Pro..."

Do you gaming in bootcamp ? I read several threads where macbook dropped 10% or more after intensive bootcamp using and even some % goes back if they work in MacOS...

My battery's been **** too. 88.8% health at just 193 cycles, bought 9 months ago.

I imagine if you fully discharge and recharge, the capacity will jump back up into the 80's for yours. Going from 87% --> 79% in just 18 cycles is very unlikely.

If your battery is *consistently* below 80% cap, AppleCare will obvs cover you for free within the 3 years.

I've probably booted to Bootcamp for about ~5 hours over the entire lifetime of this computer.

Good point. I may give that a shot to see if it recalibrates or anything.
