Dim screens, yellow screens, uneven screens, dead pixels, scratches, chips, nicks, ill fitting baseplates, not sitting flat on a table, poor gaps between body and display lid, etc. etc. - how is the out of the box quality control on yours?

Mine was perfect, which is a very nice surprise considering I’m very picky with these machines.

So far am happy with my experience with the 16". Very pleased with the fit and finish... As far as the operation, for my first experience with a MacBook Pro I am very happy.

I have a very uneven screen with a bright splotch in the middle. Not noticeable with dark backgrounds, but when scrolling on white content it is horrible.

When woke up from sleep, sometimes the screen remained blank.

Sometimes when the computer was shutting down, I heard sudden fan noise.

Anybody else have these issues?

I've got the issue with the speakers popping. Seems like its GPU related since it only happens with apps that are video + audio (YouTube, FCP, QuickTime, etc) but Spotify and Logic have no issues. Hopefully it's just a driver thing, but it could very well be hardware. Taking it in on Friday to see what the people at the Genius Bar say.

Crack in speakers when using Youtube.
Screen is very slightly less bright when compared to my 15" 2018 model.

This and light leakage on the keyboard.

IMO these are not major defects and with the exception of the light leakage will probably be fixed with software updates.

My first model from the Apple Store was a mess. Was factory sealed fwiw, but had a poorly-stuck plastic around the laptop itself, had some orange lubricant goop or adhesive along the side, a nick out of the top of the lid, and dead pixels.

Went right back and exchanged it there for another laptop out of presumably the same batch. Tested it out in store ... no nicks, no weird goop, no dead pixels, and no coil whine. On a pure white screen at max brightness it looks pretty even to me, but then I haven't had a new Macbook Pro since my late-2008.

Happy so far on #2. Just keep forgetting it's not a touchscreen.

I've yet to hear of any problems, granted since i'm not in the market for a new laptop, I'm not really researching. Yet other then some chatter about screen brightness, it seems this machine is one of the best ones from apple in a long time.

Is there any reviews or otherwise where someone measured 500nits using a tool on the new MacBooks? - that would at least reassure me that there are some defective units rather than the whole Air 300nitgate fiasco?
