1601 error; then 1602

I give up. Unchecked the boxes on tiny umbrella. Tried the host file thing. Still throws an error 1601 or 1602 iPhone cannot be restored. (something to that effect) Any suggestions? I'll give it one last try.

Updating iPhone 4 from 4.3 to 5.0.1. Created a custom firmware but nothing is working.
