I'm looking for one, and have been staring at MacMall and Apple's refurb site for quite a while, but I see people post about how they find much better deals somewhere else.

Would someone point me in the right direction?

You might need to give people some more detail.
Do you want new/refurb or are regular second hand deals o.k. with you?

Which MBP are you looking for?
cMBP, rMBP, 13"/15"/17"... anti-glare display, other requirements?

new or refurb is what i prefer.

i'm looking for a 15" rmbp with 8gb ram, 256 (at least) ssd and i'm not to particular on anything else

local ads will always usually have the best gems

everyone selling online has researched the value and not usually that great

I've found numerous random people on local ads who have no idea and just want to sell their MBP or iPad's etc.

Keep an eye on craiglists and when you find one jump quick

craigslist daily and be quick to jump.

I was luckily enough to get a well taken care of 2011 13" Pro with 2.3year Apple Care remaining for 900CAD. :D

Remember this is a forum, people are not always completely honest.

Yeah, some people try to convince themselves they did a good deal. So they substract $200 or plus in their mind and show off in this forum by bragging with their imaginary numbers... :D

Check out Bestbuy and Amazon, they run sales from time to time which include reducing the price of the MBP.

Best Buy Deal

Here ya go, Best Buy is blowing out all MACs as they get ready for the dreaded Haswell. So go to these two links find your BB store ID; then modify the link to reflect a Best Buy store near you. Note (strId=205) is the Store Id, its in the link near then end of the address. In this example the store id is link to the Irvin Tx Best Buy where they have a few of these deals left. Strange thing is this is hidden, if you just go to the BB web site and search you'll never find this deal. Hope it helps.

Store ID Locator LINK

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Apple%2...646127071&skuId=5430532&strId=205&strClr=true

The result is a discounted rMBP for $999.00 off give or take

Good luck trying it this way - order cancelled in 5 min or less once their inventory checker fails.

I got the best deal ive ever come across from Best Buy during an open box sale- they were discounting an additional 10% off all open box items. Got the maxed out 15" retina for $2077. The only downside was I bought it in May and my Applecare was only good from April- guessing the original BB purchase date.

Ive been looking for that sale again but havent seen it since.
