sweet spot will be $349... but knowing apple it will be $399, and i don't think it's that bad. 200 less than $650 iphone 5.

iPhone 5S starting at typical $650, 750, 850.

iPhone 5C at $450, and $550 price points. Replacing what the iPhone 4 and 4S sell for now.

$199 is what it should be, but it will probably be $399 and sell like hotcakes. I can't say for sure until I know the specs, but if it's just a 5 stuffed into a colored case I would never buy one over an Apple refurbished 5 which will be cheaper after the 5c/5s come out. I couldn't see a refurb 5 being much more than $399 from Apple.

My prediction of iPhone models.

Model - On Contract $ - Contract-free $
iPhone 5S 16GB - $199 - $649
iPhone 5S 32GB - $299 - $749
iPhone 5S 64GB - $399 - $849

iPhone 'plastic/color' 8GB - $0 - $399
iPhone 'plastic/color' 16GB - $99 - $499

Anyone who thinks it would be $199 clearly isn't familiar with Apple :D

They will price this high. It will be $400-550 unlocked, I'm sure. At least.

They SHOULD go low, but they won't, obviously.

I'm just hoping that the price has a 3 in it.

$439 :D

Seriously though - $349 would be best case scenario IMO. I think they likely hit $449 or $399 at the lowest.

My prediction of iPhone models.

Model - On Contract $ - Contract-free $
iPhone 5S 16GB - $199 - $649
iPhone 5S 32GB - $299 - $749
iPhone 5S 64GB - $399 - $849

iPhone 'plastic/color' 8GB - $0 - $399
iPhone 'plastic/color' 16GB - $99 - $499

I predicted something similar when all this mess started.

I also think we see a larger iPhone added to the mix next year starting at $100 more than the 5S.

None of this "last year's" model nonsense. What people don't necessarily get is Apple can put last year's tech in the 5C and it'll sell much better because it can be marketed as "NEW". And people will buy it. Not saying consumers are stupid (and I'm sure the 5C will have something over the 4S/4 - the size for one), but refreshing the models annually while still using last year's internals in the cheaper version will allow for a better marketing campaign and an INCREASE in value so they can still price the phone at roughly $450 off contract.....

Which, IMO, is still a good deal considering we'll likely see a 5C with roughly the internals somewhere between the 4S and 5 for the same price as the current 4 (and what the 4S would go to anyways).

I agree the entry 5C should cost $350 but will most likely cost $450. Like someone here said, at $450 it's still $200 less than the 5S. Apple wants a piece of the lower end but not the low low end ;)

My best guess, the color model will not have the finger print reader, the camera will be 8mp, and carry the same chip as the 5.
16gb off contract 379.00 I still think they can profit $150 on this.
16gb with contract 79.00

5s
Finger print reader, 12mp camera 120FPS video feature, higher storage, storage will HAVE to go up with 120FPS, 16gb would be silly small.
32gb 649/199
64gb 749/299
128gb 849/399...I think 128 will sell very well with the new camera and 120FPS

iPhone 4 will be the free phone, not the 4s,
the 4s and 5 will both be discontinued.

It should be $349 but this is Apple so it will be $449.

Agreed.

If it's more than $349 unlocked, my kid will be getting a Google Nexus 4 for $199 as a back-to-school gift.

What bothers me is that they'll package last years guts in a "new" plastic enclosure and sell it for $450 and they likely won't be able to make them fast enough to keep up with demand. So much for voting with my wallet.

I've changed my mind. I wonder now. In light of this:

the doc only shows that the 32GB and 64GB models will be discontinued, which might be a clue the 16GB iPhone 5 will stick around as an entry level model.

5S at typical $650, 750, 850.
5 16G at 550
5C 16G at 450 and up.
5C 8G at 350, maybe?

iPod Touch 16G down at 229 currently.

The Nexus 4 that was just discontinued?

I voted $350+.

I've found there's a very easy formula for determining the price of Apple products before they're released... Take the price analysts predict it will sell for and then add $100. :)

Yeah I think that your prices are right if they are that would be fantastic. No I don't believe the nexus 4 is discontinued not until the next nexus will it be discontinued.
