Could we have it all wrong?

We've all been speculating that both of Apple's two new iPhones are going to be announced September 10th, for the US. But, Apple has a second event in China September 11th. Could it be that the iPhone 5C is simply a new phone that fits the needs of China best? I hear China has become the biggest cell phone market. And, Apple has been rumored to be in talks with China's biggest cell carrier.

So, I could have it all wrong. What if next Tuesday Apple talks about the new iPhone 5S, "brighten your day" has to do with new iOS 7 design coming with the 5S, enhanced security with fingerprint sensor, AirDrop, etc., but never mentions the 5C? Then, Wednesday, in China, Apple introduces the new iPhone 5C, C for China, C for Colors, iOS 7 capable device? If this is the case, then I'm all wet.

Right now, is this:
•iPhone 5 (only LTE model) 16/32/64GB (flagship price $199/299/399 on contract)
•iPhone 4S (no LTE) 16GB (middle of the road price $99 on contract)
•iPhone 4 (no LTE, no siri) 8GB (entry level price $0 on contract)
http://store.apple.com/us/iphone/family/iphone/compare

So, these are my two ideas, what if?:

1) (This was my first idea.) Apple's goal is to eliminate 30-pin connector phones this year, and change the entry level phone to one that suits a global market better, and runs all iOS 7 features (iOS 7 for 4/4S are missing AirDrop for starters)?:

Before I get into things, let me remind everyone, that Apple is always slower to adopt new tech. I don't know why so many think Apple can't make an entry level phone without LTE, when, first off, AT&T says they will abandon EDGE by Jan 1 2017, and certainly don't have LTE everywhere, nor 3G for that matter, yet. I certainly don't have LTE everywhere I drive yet, and some countries are slow at adopting LTE. LTE was delayed because of battery drain in prototypes, in fact, it pushed the 4S out a few months because they were trying to implement it, but had to push it to the next iPhone (or, you could say, iPhone 5 was delayed a year because of problems, mainly battery drain w/LTE). So, don't expect Apple to adopt LTE-A this year, as it is still too new. Also, there is more than one model of iPhone 5 to accommodate LTE/GSM/CDMA with all carriers in all countries (see this: http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE), while the 4S is a single global universal model (but without LTE).

Rumors suggest the 5C would fit in the price range the iPhone 4 is in now. So, a new entry level phone, with entry level features...to me, that means no LTE, but, fully capable of performing iOS 7 & beyond well.

I have been predicting this:
•iPhone 5S (w/LTE, enhanced security w/fingerprint sensor, first to have AirDrop, & ? feature) 32/64/128GB (flagship price $199/299/399 on contract) white/graphite/champagne gold
•iPhone 5 (w/LTE) 16GB (middle of the road price $99 on contract)
•iPhone 5C (no LTE) 16GB (entry level price, starting at $49 on contract.) 6 colors, plastic, antenna moved inside, lightning connector *see below

2) After reading a lot of stuff, and too many people saying (no LTE? WTH??) I'm wondering if the "C" in 5C=China model. If so, then, this for the US:

•iPhone 5S (w/LTE, enhanced security w/fingerprint sensor, first to have AirDrop, & ? feature) 32/64/128GB (flagship price $199/299/399 on contract) white/graphite/champagne gold
•iPhone 5 (w/LTE) 16GB (middle of the road price $99 on contract)
•iPhone 4S (no LTE) 16GB (entry level price, $0 on contract)

iPhone 5C is a China-only model, announced Sept. 11th in China, but left out of US Sept. 10th announcement.

What do you think? Rumored 5C=China model? or 5C=new entry level iPhone, replaces 4 & 4S, to eliminate 30-pin connector phones, get all up to speed with iOS 7? (Neither iPhone 4 nor 4S can do all features of iOS 7, i.e.: neither will do AirDrop).

*For my reasoning on #1) above, please see my comments in these threads:

Apple are also holding satellite events in Tokyo and Berlin, not exclusively in China. So I still think the 5C will be sold everywhere, not too sure about LTE compatability though.

When the rumors about the lower cost iPhone first started it was said that it was only going to be sold in emerging markets.

As the release got closer, and people became fascinated with the different colors and got intrigued by its "cheapness", that info just got left by the wayside.

We'll all find out on the 10th, but I personally don't believe it will be sold in the US.

iPhone 5C is sold everywhere. How i know, there has been photo's of the inlay cards with the instruction manuals in Dutch. SO it would be weird if they ship only to China since i don't know much chinese people who speak and read Dutch.

:p
Here is my thought plan on the 5,5C and 5S

iPhone 5C in place for the iPhone 4 and 4S with a 8GB storage with happy trippy colour plastic casing options

iPhone 5 Stays in line with 16GB and black/white

and the iPhone 5S comes with more color options and starts at 32GB with a 64GB and 128GB option.

This eliminates the whole assembly line of 3,5" panels and 30 pens dock connectors for the iPhones (which is about 75% of the production lines for the iPhone) only device left with a 30 pens connector is a iPod classic which im guessing is fased out in oktober or gets a refresh with a new design/connector.

Pricing without contracts i think this:

iphone 5C 349-449 pricepoint
iphone 5 549
iphone 5S starting at 649 increasing 100 with each step of storage so 749 for 64gb and 849 for the 128gb

pricings are in euro's :p

And i think all iPhones 5 (s or c) will have LTE, but the S model will be a universal model working on all frequencies where the 5 and 5C won't

Yes, China and some other countries that have need to do a different antenna, thus the plastic back. (China has a huge market for smart phones).

I'm now putting my bet on:

Tues. 10th in US Apple announces iPhone 5S w/iOS 7...nothing about 5C
Wed. 11th in China Apple announces iPhone 5C w/iOS 7 for china & some other countries, nothing about 5S

I think I was wrong about 5C replacing 4/4S...but, small chance it could...I guess one more year of 4S w/30 pin connector?

My bet is iPhone 5c - china only - thus the separate keynote. To bad I was hoping to get a cheaper iPhone. But, ce la vie!

The China event is the major carrier announcement for the iPhone.

Why on earth would Apple not include LTE bands?

Well a friend of a friend of a friend... told me that the carrier he works for's code name for the UK "event" next week is "Operation Rainbow" and lasts from the 10th-29th. Not a word of a lie. :)

So I fully expect Operation Rainbow to be the 5C - it's coming to the UK.

hmmm...I'm more unsure than ever. I didn't actually vote yet. 5 days ago I would have voted #1, but, now I'm voting "unsure". There are currently 2 iPhones, 1 iPad w/30-pin connectors. The only question is the 4S

I think iPod Classic, if they haven't stopped making it already, will stop by October, and just be ignored until it runs out of stock.

If thats the case, the invitations wouldn't have color bubbles ;)
That banner looks much like iOS 7. Period. It's the big thing this year. AirDrop will be big with the crowd, but, only works on TBA idevices and iPhone 5, iPad 4, maybe mini, current iPod touches, that's all, no other older iOS devices will be able to AirDrop.
