Haven't found consensus on here on when iOS7 will be available publicly... I'm not a developer.

Apologies if this is somewhere else here.

I'm guessing:
Sept 10th - GM released
Sept 13th - Public & iPhone pre-orders
Sept 20th - iPhones on sale?

I've got the 5 and won't be upgrading until the 6.

cheers!

Do you mind if I hold you "accountable" to that? ;) I am gonna be on the lookout for the words "GM....Sept 10..today.." when they are talking about iOS 7 on Tuesday.

(Meanwhile thinking/hoping for the words "Available to download....TODAY")

GM should be released Tuesday afternoon. I would say the public release of iOS 7 will be the day iPhone 5S goes on sale or very close to it/after it. I think that is what happened with iOS 6 last year if I remember correctly.

on sale or preorder?

Over the last few years, it was a couple days before the iPhone went on sale. So if your guess dates are right, iOS 7 would go live on Sept 18.

Sale. Here's a good estimate based on previous years:

September 10th - iOS 7 GM released to developers
Sometime in here, new iPhones are available for preorder
September 17th - iOS 7 released to the public
September 19/20th - iPhone 5S/5C go on sale.

The GM can be installed by someone who's udid is not registered correct? I am not asking if it it's right to do, I'm asking if it it will activate afterwards when the phone is not registered.

The GM is the same as the public release, it does not do any sort of activation check of UDIDs.

That's been possible with the GM's of the previous releases, so it's probably possible with the iOS 7 GM as well.

You guys think iPad's iOS GM version is ready for tomorrow?

Doubtful, but you never know.

From everything we've heard, and the fact that the first iPad beta wasn't released until the second iPhone beta, I'd say it's likely that the iPad iOS 7 release won't be until later this fall, when they introduce the new hardware.

No one really knows until tomorrow, though.

It will be big disappointment if that is the case. I mean, it will be very awkward in Apple store seeing iPhone with iOS 7 and iPads still with iOS 6

It's hard to say, although the iPad beta started a couple of weeks after the iPhone, there've also been no more releases since Beta 6, which is the same as the iPhone. If they were having problems and were considering a delayed release it's seems odd that they have not been seeding more Betas for the iPad, to keep the development process going.

Stability wise the Beta 6 release is pretty flawless on my iPad, there are a couple of crashes that occur in Mail and contacts, that are reproducible but they don't seem particularly onerous. It's UI is as smooth as can be expected for Beta code. Remember there's a debugger running as well as beta specific debug code. Neither will be part of the GM version.

The real test though is if the API's are behaving as expected, that's what the Beta program is really for, and only the registered developers and Apple know the answer to that. As far as I can see, there's no real impediment to a GM release for the iPad tomorrow. I guess we'll see very soon though.

That's a great forecast. I hope it's pretty accurate since we need to deploy our iOS7 update :D

If this is the case, how would I be able to get the GM prior to the public release? I have a developer account (free) that I'd registered as a curiosity a year ago.

Yes but that does not mean it is "released to the public". AKA available as an OTA update to everyone who has an iPhone.

The only download links the day it is released is thru the developer portal

The GM will just be available from Apple for paid developers. We aren't allowed to give links, but just google, you'll find plenty.

Yes, I know. Tomorrow the GM is released to developers. The public release will be next week. I was merely answering his question as to whether it could be installed without a registered UDID. I did not say he'd be able to get it, just that it was theoretically possible.

It will go on sale september 19th for 9.99 or be free with a new iPhone

Any rumours / sources to back this up? I follow Apple news a lot and this has not been reported anywhere. Thus I'm calling this phoney.
