iOS 7 GM on iPad 3 and 2

Transparency (but not blurring) is there, but I am experiencing issues with wallpaper selection, typing, and control center either being unresponsive or lagging significantly. Bad news bears if this is indeed the GM experience...

On iPad 3 there is transparency in Notification Centre and Control Centre (mind you there was in Beta 6) but there is no blurring of the background as seen on the iPhone.
I will wait and see how this turns out before updatin my mom's iPad 2.
Not sure if she will be too happy about all the changes, especially if it brings slowdowns along.

So the same applies for the iPad 2, right? Oh God, it looks so much better with blurring effects than with that horrifying simple transparency! What about the iPad mini? Does it have the effects?

I have the GM with a fresh install on my iPad 3 and the entire OS is sluggish and slow. It takes roughly ~12 seconds to pop a thumbnail up to set a wallpaper and ~8 to ~10 seconds to actually set it.
I'm not sure how this passed Apple performance testing and quality control.

I'm wondering why Apple even bothered with iOS 7 for the iPad 2 and 3, there is no point in making it available if they're not willing to optimise the software for those devices.

Ipad 3 needs a ios 7.1 version now.
The wallpaper selection is slooooow, in ios6 it's slow in the ios7 is terrible.

I think the apple A5X it's powerful to move ios7 more fast than GM.

I can't believe they haven't brought the blurred layers back!
What's wrong with apple? They were working perfectly fine in beta 4.
Performance is better than beta 6, but I have the same problems others do:
1. 4 seconds to pick a wallpaper, 10 seconds to set it (much faster when I choose dynamic wallpapers, odd)
2. Pinch to home screen animation needs work, the animation is weird and the dock changes colors for a second
3. Apple Store/iTunes Store load much slower than they used to in ios 6.
One good thing, my siri is working again! never worked in any betas before 🙁
And she is fast!
Haven't noticed anything else so far. But my top annoyance is the lack of blur, it was beautiful on beta 4!

Just tried out the GM on an ipad 2. (First time using ios 7 also)
Runs faster than I thought. Haven't had any keyboard lag. Video controls are very ugly. Are they missing a blur effect?
Some parts look good without blur such as the keyboard. Popovers look poor without the effect.
UI elements in all the Apple apps and home-screen icons look ugly without retina IMO. The multitasking is a downgrade for me - allowing animations to be interrupted would fix it for me. It also should snap to the next app instead of scrolling past it but that's just me not being used to it I suppose.
Text selecting and cursor navigation is more responsive than ios 6 on this ipad which nearly makes it a must-upgrade by default. 🙂 The resulting copy/paste pop up doesn't look too pretty though.
If it uses more ram then I haven't noticed so far. Safari is very smooth. Pages don't reload too often - seems the same as ios 6 with regards to page refreshing.
It just feels unfinished for a GM on the ipad 2. The performance is there thankfully but the UI needs some polish. I just can't unsee the aliasing around the app icons on the home-screen for example. Pinching to the home screen exhibits a weird animation glitch that is always noticeable.
If Apple bug fix the 7.0 like they did previous ios versions then I definitely will upgrade. Just needs more fine tuning for me currently. At least it still feels fast though. That was main worry when running it on the ipad 2.

For those complaining about how long it takes for the wallpaper to load... How often do you change this around for it to be such a nuisance?
As for the layers being simple transparency, it definitely stinks a little bit, but again it doesn't seem likes it something worth a huge outcry about how apple is crippling certain devices...

Since blur was working fine in older betas is there really any reason for them to do this other than wanting to make people feel that their older devices are inferior?
1. Just because you don't do it often does not mean it should perform this way. Some people changing background frequently some people does not. When you need to change background, it is frustrating.
2. When the device is perfectly capable to having blurring effect, but Apple choose cut it for marketing purpose, people will complain.

Aside from the wallpaper situation everything seems to be running fairly well for me. Oh and also pinch to zoom isn't fluid. Other than that, it looks so clean and crisp. I've had iOS 7 on my iPhone since beta 1 but this is the first time using on the ipad.
Been playing with the GM on my iPad3 for about an hour. I did a full DFU restore, setup as new device. Pretty much everything is running much better than the last beta. I was having a lot of keyboard and input lag before in beta 6, that is all gone now, most everything is very smooth and responsive including the springboard/multitasking animations.
The major exception of course is setting a wallpaper. Mine actually locks up for a good 20sec while applying. Really poor user experience and something I am flabbergasted that Apple would just ignore.
Something interesting about blur effects: Gone from Control and Notification Center, but still on Spotlight Search, Dock and the Reminders app. Just seems odd they'd be gone from the rest of the OS, but still in those places. The A5X might be a little under powered for 3D graphics on retina, but it is more than enough for these 2D effects. I totally think iPad 3 owners are being taken a little here.

I see that many people in this tread have the same problems. Are you filling bug reports about that? I would personally love to upgrade my iPad next week and see a much more polished OS...
Also, I looked through the information online (beta 5 changelogs on BGR) and couldn't find any mention of blurred layers disabled by design on iPad 2 and 3. Where do those who mention this intentional change get the info?

ios7 on ipad3 is still pretty much the same as the beta imo. can't speak for ipad2 first hand but have yet to hear anyone say it's smooth like a public release is expected to be. Almost seems like ios7 is best suited for iphone 5 and up and iPad 4 and up including first gen mini.
Just updated my iPad 3 and performance is significantly better than the previous beta. Keyboard lag doesn't seem to be an issue anymore, and the multitasking gesture no longer crashes the device, pinch to homepage is much smoother than before. Only negative point is the lack of blur in NC & CC, hopefully that'll come with a jailbreak.
