It clearly makes sense for Apple to offer a lower cost model of the iPhone. There is no question about that. But is the timing of the introduction of the 'c' off?
The 's' cycle is always minor improvements on the same form factor. With the leap from iPhone 5 to iPhone 5s was incremental the iPhone 5 being replaced by the iPhone 5c is being viewed as a downgrade by some (here and elsewhere).
Because of this do you think Apple would have been better served introducing the iPhone 'c' at the same time as the iPhone 6? In my opinion it would have been easier for them to differentiate between the iPhone 6c and the iPhone 5s at that point.
It is too early to tell how well the 'c' brand will take hold. But if it doesn't work will Apple have tainted the 'c' brand so much that it carries over to the iPhone 6c?
