So everyone knows that the best way to unlock via fingerprint scanner is to click the home button, and release the click but keep your finger on the button and voila! You're in.

Well, if you actually apply a decent amount of pressure on the button after release, you will actually unlock the phone at least 25% faster with it averaging about 2x as fast

Give it a shot!

Are you trolling? It doesn't seem any faster at all really.

Yes, this is obviously the most heinously devious trolling the internet has ever seen, cleverly disguised as a mere handy tip.

It's a trollspiracy, trying to get us to make our home buttons sound clicky and bump our phones together in vain.

I've been doing this from day 1 simply because I've never used the power button to wake up my phone. It actually works great!

Yup, I turn the screen on, tap my thumb down and boom, i'm in. I don't hold my thumb down until the phone unlocks.

I was actually going to start a poll asking if people prefer to hold down, or tap then release. lol

I noticed that too. I figured it was just getting a better image of your print by keeping it firmly on the button.

When you do this do you disable being able to access Siri from the lock screen???

OP is right, that is what I have been doing. I always thought everyone would do this.

I've been pressing the button firmly since day 1, not much different that what I did with my 4S and other iPhones. It works nearly every time, and when it doesn't, it's because the area of contact is too small.

you don't have to wait for the phone to unlock before removing your finger. There is a 'gamble' time where you remove your finger early and see if it was long enough to register an unlock :)

it should start scanning while your pressing the button, then you can just press and when the homescreen comes up, you release.

You do not have to hold the button down, just click and release but continue to touch the home button with your thumb.
