Apple today released EFI Firmware Update 2.7 for the mid-2013 MacBook Air, which comes with several Boot Camp-related bug fixes for the MacBook Airs that were released in June.
MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 2.7

This update is recommended for MacBook Air (mid 2013) models.

This update addresses an issue which may cause a black screen to appear when installing Windows 7 or Windows 8 using Boot Camp Assistant if both an external optical drive and USB thumb drive are connected to the system. This update also ensures that the system will boot by default into OS X after installation of Windows 8.
The EFI update should be available in the Mac App Store for mid-2013 MacBook Airs and can also be downloaded from the Apple Support site.

No updates for 2011 MBA. Can't remember the last time we had one. Feel like we are missing out.

I just updated my MBA 2013 with the EFI 2.7 Update, but immediately after the update the MBA went from totally silent (never even heard the fan once before) to extremely loud with the fan sounding all the time!

I've tried the SMC reset, and also the PRAM reset, exactly according to Apple's instructions*, but to no avail. Has anyone else had the same experience? And is there any way to get this fixed? I've tried to "downdate" to 2.6 again, but that won't work ("not compatible with this computer").

This really is extremely annoying -- the fan starts immediately after power on and never stops (unless I put the MBA into sleep, but then it starts up again immediately after wake-up)... Gaaaah!!

Joke

Gave up running Windows on Mac via bootcamp.... too many issues, late drivers etc etc etc.

It's just marketing crap for Apple to sell more computers that it also runs Windows. It runs but it's a PAIN.

Who cares about Windblows?! Apple should really focusing to fix blackscreen in their own OS.

I care like others because not all programs are made for mac os you know. I use 90% of time os x but sometimes i need windows for visio, packet tracer or other specific programs

To OP wifi issue is fixed also and win 7 x64 loads faster

I think his point is that there are issues with the 2011 model as well. But Apple prefers you to buy a new MacBook Air instead.

Yup that's what I am saying. But am determined to keep my MBA 2011 going for as long as I can. Lol

I didn't think there were any lingering issues with the 2011 model now?

You have the battery issue. It's not good at all. From 100% battery charge if your watching lets say an hour of a movie online lets say streaming for example I get to 20% battery life. I know my MBA battery life meant to be upto 5 hours. But this is a bit of a joke.
