I noticed MR now sends notifications . My question is will it include ANY advertising ?

Push Notifications for Forums

I think it's wonderful to have push notifications for a site like MacRumors on OS X. I'm a BIG FAN of things like this (In fact, the only reason I even have the CNN app on my phone is for the push notifications of headlines. Other than to set it up the first time, I don't think I've even ever opened the app!)

Now the question is, will we soon be able to get push notifications for the forums? Like Private Messages or Quote Notifications?

So far, it's going to be news stories.

Really enjoying this feature, but it seems to me that the icon rendering is a little off-

Not extremely important obviously, but other than this the feature seems to be working well. I also think that notifications from the forums would be an excellent addition 😉

I understand how this work now. Cool feature but there doesn't seem to be a way to subscribe just to front page stuff.

You should be able to uncheck the Mac and iOS Blog's from the subscription.

Ya I figured it out. DO'H..

Refreshing the page showed all of them for a second then went away.

Just not interested in the IOS blog stuff. I have it removed from my spy .

MacRumors and Push Notifications - messed up icon!

Any idea why my icon looks like this? When I get a push notification, it also looks jacked up.

It looks like this on my iMac, but looks fine on my MacBook Air.

To change the icon-

-Navigate to your user's library folder by holding the option key while clicking on the "go" menu in finder, and selecting "Library"

-Navigate to the "Caches" folder
-Navigate to "com.apple.safari"
-Click on the "RemoteNotifications" folder
-Click on "web.com.xeeno.push" folder
-Click on the "Contents" folder
-Click on the "Resources" folder

Replace the icon with the one attached. This isn't the original icon, but it is one I created that looks identical. It should do the job until the issue is fixed.

Cheers 😉
