Well team, I just got back from Best Buy with my 2.4/8GB/256 2013 rMBP. I'm sure you're interested in the speed test results, so here are mine. Not sure who the controller maker is, but at this speed, who cares.

Wow, my 13in i7 2.9/512SSD is getting 370-400 for write and 440-450 for read
that is 75% faster write and ~60% faster read speeds:eek:

Wonder if it feels faster in real life usage?

I'm getting up to 730MB/sec for read and write speeds from my 13" Retina MacBook Pro 2.6GHz from late 2013 :)

Yippee

Just got mine and I'm getting basically the same read and write speeds that the op got... :)

I'm glad I saw this thread...or I wouldn't have believed what I was getting on a late 2013 13" MBPro 2.6/16GB RAM/512GB SSD. I was sure the software was off... but wow...

I got mine yesterday

I picked up my maxed out rMBP yesterday. This is mine. For some reason the image isn't showing up. My numbers are 941.6 write and 912.3 Read. It's the fastest computer I've ever owned!!!

PCI-E SSD's are the ******. A 512gb ssd, quad core proc, 16 GB if ram in my new rMBP are blowing me away with how fast and smooth everything is.

Dissapointed with what I am seeing

Hey guys. I picked up this 15" rMBP 2.8GHz Intel CoreI7, 16gb ram, 750 GB ssd, and my results are so low compared with what Im seeing here. Any ideas why?

If it is a 2.8GHz, then it is an "Early 2013" rMBP, so the SSD isn't PCI-E, it is a SATA based drive. Your results are in line with drives of this generation (and still very fast! :) )

Thanks for your reply, Makes sense to me now. The speeds Im seeing on my machine are plenty fast for me. Thanks again. :)

My Read is on par with everyone's number at around 720 mb/s, but my Write is really off and around 570 mb/s at best. Here is the spec of my recently purchased Late-2013 MacBook Pro Retina 13":

2.4GHz CPU
256GB SSD
16GB RAM

Any idea why my Write is much slower than others? I am planning on exchanging it but I am afraid that Apple may give me a refurbished unit. So I may just return it and get a full refund and make a new purchase. Will that be necessary?

Please see my screen capture per attached.

If it's SanDisk, it's normal. SanDisk ones are slower than Samsung ones.

System Info → SATA

If the drive name starts with SD, it's SanDisk.

If it's SM, it's Samsung.

I've got a 1TB SSD too, but it looks like it's much faster. I dunno why.

Late-2013 15" rMBP
2.6GHz i7
16GB RAM
Iris Pro + 2GB GT750M
1TB SSD

Thank you and this is very helpful. I have Samsung but it is slower than what Samsung should be getting. so perhaps I got a defective Samsung?

How do I make sure the one I get is from Samsung or SanDisk? that seems impossible but perhaps they ship the January batch with SanDisk and the February batch with Samsung, etc?
