5S Camera BUG

OK, I've been trying this for the past 30 minutes with two different 5S and both are experiencing the same issue, while a 4S does it just fine.

Here's what's happening: (let me know if you can replicate it)

1. Find a group photo with more than 7 clear faces. (You can try with this photo I googled).
2. Put the phone pretty close to it, so the phone only sees the photo.
3. Let it recognize the faces.
4. Take a photo of the photo with your 5S and the default camera app.

I'm getting the same result everytime: Shutter sound plays fine, but no actual photo is taken. In the lower left corner appears a black space and the app seems kind of frozen for a few seconds, then everything goes back to normal.

Also, if you have erased another photo seconds before, it will magically reappear.

Now it's when you tell me I've got two faulty 5Ss, lol
 
i just tried it myself. The only way i was able to "take the picture" so it would stay in my camera roll, was to use burst mode.
 
I tested this on the pics you linked and I get the same results as you did. If I only had half the faces in the camera shot then it would take the picture but if more than 5-6 faces had the focus rectangles around them the pic would never show in my camera roll. It must be some bug related to the number of face recognition hits.
 
I was able to replicate your issue with my iPhone 5s. It seems that once it recognizes more than 3 faces it happens. I was able to pull back from the picture and let it only recognize a couple and it still would work, but once it recognized more faces than that, it did exactly as you described.
 
Well, at least I'm not alone!! A 4S with 7.0.3 doesn't seem to suffer from it... I hope this is not hardware related.

Can't believe nobody had noticed this before lol
 
Off topic question though! In that picture, which person do you find the most attractive?
 
I reproduced it on a 5s on 7.0.4.

RIP Apple.

Update: I'm not able to reproduce it now. When I take the photo with all the faces no preview immediately appears, but if I leave it alone the preview appears after about 5 seconds or so. The picture does end up in my camera roll. I've tried closing the camera and camera roll between attempts. :confused:

Also confirmed on my 5S with IOS 7.04
Does this mean the 5S is not capable of taking these kind of group pictures at all?

My guess is Apple believes people who own a 5S don't have more than 5-6 friends. lol

Jokes aside, this might be a pretty stupid bug correctible by changing one line of code, but if this is somehow hardware related... well...... :rolleyes:

I encourage everyone to send feedback to Apple. Hope they notice it and fix it in the next update.
