1680 x 1050 vga output from aluminum macbook

hey guys got my new aluminum macbook 2 weeks ago and loving it however, i got a display port to vga adaptor hooked up to my samsung monitor and can't seem to get it to run at 1680 x 1050 resolution (which is the monitors native resolution) any ideas on how to fix this?

Have you been into System Preferences -> Displays? Should be able to change it in there.

hey yeah i tried that all i got closest to the resoultion i want (1680 x 1050) was:

1400 x 1050

1600 x 1200

Have you looked at the refresh rate for the monitor? I had a similar problem where my external screen would randomly flash black for about 2 seconds then come back, while set to 1680 x 1050. The refresh rate was set to 59.9 Hz and couldn't be changed. Since my monitor is under warranty, it was returned to the manufacturer and I'm waiting for the replacement.
