I'm currently using the basic version of Air 2017. Even though I love it and it has been my daily driver for over 3 years now, I'm thinking of getting a newer 2020 version. The thing is, I know that some time in the future I'd have to install Windows on it (I'm a translator and the software I'd eventually need isn't available for Macs). Would 16 gigs of ram make any difference in my case? The program itself isn't very demanding (unless there are humongous projects I'm required to do) but I feel like two systems require more memory. My current Air tends to get laggy sometimes when I have too many files and tabs open.

What are your experiences with Windows on Air 2020?

PS. Coming from 2017 8/128 Air, wouldn't there be too little difference in daily usage to even consider the upgrade to Air with 8gb of RAM?
PPS. I've been also thinking of getting MBP 2020 with 16 gigs of RAM but I'd rather not spend additional hundreds on a machine which won't be used for any creative endeavors. TOO. MANY. CHOICES.

If you install Windows through Bootcamp; As a separate OS you need to boot the machine in and out of, it will use no more RAM than Windows alone or macOS alone. If you install it virtualised, like with Parallels, it will be the same RAM requirements as running both systems at the same time.
