First of all, please accept my apologies if I am duplicating a post here; I have tried searching the forum but not found anything exactly answering my questions.

I have a later 2011 13" MBP in which I would like to upgrade the RAM.

I currently have 4GB and would like to go to 16GB.

First question, is there any problem with going to 16GB as the Apple site details a maximum capability of 8GB.

Second question, is there any manufacturers of RAM I should avoid? I have found various brands available at varying prices.

Many thanks for you help.

I have 16GB in my Early 2011 13" and it works fine. I have the Corsair Value Select 2x8GB DDR3-1333. I bought KomputerBay but I had to return it since it was junk. Later research showed that they're cheap but hit or miss.

For peace of mind, go with Crucial (using their memory finder), OWC, or other well known brand's Mac memory.

Many thanks. Ordered my 16GB upgrade from Crucial, who currently have 10% off! :)
