Just picked up a 17" CRT Studio display and I'm looking to use this with my main PC setup which, of course, lacks an ADC port. Info on how to do this is scarce at best, but according to this AppleFritter thread: https://www.applefritter.com/node/4008 The ADC to DVI adapter made by Gefen passes through the analog pins on the DVI connector to the ADC port (for those who don't know, apples official ADC to DVI adapter doesn't pass through a the analog leads in a DVI connection).
My concern is that the people there say the adapter gets very hot and no one says anything about how long they used that setup. Generally, heat does not equal longevity. Also someone said the resolutions are more limited than with a Mac. Has anyone here used one of these Gefen adapters for an ADC CRT? If so, how hot did it actually get? What resolutions/refresh rates were supported?

It seems the only other option is to solder me up one of these adapter boards: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-DVI-...-Display-A1006-DIY-PCB/113788565793?hash=item 1a7e53b921:g:Tq4AAOSwG59c5eu8 But with my soldering skills, that's a disaster waiting to happen...
