I have a 17" MBP that currently has 2gb of ram. It's a early 2006 model that Apple claims will only support 2gb. Has anyone had any success or knows if it can support more then this? I would love to have more then 2gb of memory. I plan on upgrading to SL soon too.

Why don't you check out www.macsales.com. It is super easy there to determine what type of RAM upgrade your laptop will support.

Sometimes Mac's can handle more ram then apple claims. All I am asking is if anyone knows if mine can hold more then 2gb.

I tried it, didn't work. Your mileage may vary. I haven't found any record of anyone making it work. My understanding is that it is a limit imposed by apple. If this was possible, someone would be tossing it up online and talking it up. Luck. :D
