Hello everyone,

I love my 15" iMac.
It's beautiful.
It's practical.
I just isn't very peppy.

I know I can't upgrade the processor because it's soldered to the logic board.

So I had a crazy idea. Can I take a 1.25Ghz logic board from a 17" iMac and use it in my 15"?

My knowledge of PPC iMacs is lacking, so i don't know if the board will physically fit or if all the cables and connectors will work.

I won't destroy a working 17 iMac, I'd buy a replacement board online. That would be wrong.
I know I could just buy a faster iMac, but that wouldn't be as fun.

Thanks!!

In theory, I think it would work fine. The overall housing is the same size, so from a hardware standpoint....

That said, someone more tech-savvy might need to chime in regard to general compatibility of drivers, wiring, etc.

Wiring should be pretty similar as well i would think, the PSU may not work though, and that might also need replacing for one of a higher capacity :/

Try and find the service manuals for both machines and then having a look to see the difference's in power consumptions.
