I just brought my early 2008 MacBook Pro back to life with an SSD and it still has 4GB (2GB x 2GB) of RAM. It looks like it will accept 6GB. Checking at OWC, a 4GB stick will run $94.88. Seems a bit high for just adding 2GB of RAM, for a total of 6GB (2GB x 4GB). I am running El Capitan with a Crucial MX300 525GB SSD. My elementary school daughter (3rd grade) will be using it and not doing anything all that intensive. Any thoughts would be helpful. Maybe someone has a 4GB stick of DDR2-667, DDR2 PC2-5300? Thanks all...

I would be reluctant to throw any more money at it. I have 2 - 17" MacBooks that had screens die recently. They are nearing the end of their screen life at that age.

I agree that an extra 2GB of RAM is not worth $100. I have some requests out to friends to see if they have an extra 4GB stick laying around from an old computer, that I can add to my 2GB stick. If I can get it on the cheap, it would be worth it. Appreciate the reply.
