Hi, I have a late 2011 17" macbook and it's very noisy when I am playing certain games like gta iv, is this normal? will artic 5 silver paste help cool it down a bit?? thanks in advance.

Sounds normal to me, my rMBP's fans spin up to max when playing GTA III. Though they're not as noisy as my old MBP's due to the new fan design, I can definitely tell they're running at full spin capacity.

I have a late 2011 17" as well and the fans will kick on when I play many different games, so yes it's normal.

I play games on a console.

I don't play games on notebooks. If the fan persists and not only when you play games, then it is NOT normal, take it in and get them to do everything they humanly / possibly can to fix the issue, otherwise those fans will kick off upon boot up and roar the entire life span of the machine :) Seriously. Some things about Macs are definitely NOT normal, it is all relative to individual case scenario.
