I have read it is possible to swap a 2007 (SR) screen assembly with a 2008 (penryn) screen assembly with minimal fuss. Extending just a couple wires.

The 2008 is LED where the 2007 is CCFL.

I noticed there is a little pixel gain.
Will LED extend battery life much?

And Im not sure it worth it myself with the hassle.

Anyone else upgraded theirs to LED.

Mine is working so not looking to mess until it fails.

Very interesting read.

From looks other than slightly higher pixels (very slightly higher) no real gain.

The CCFL looks good at min, nice a crisp.

Loads of real estate compared to my 13" macbook.

Well got my macbook and macbook pro at work today.

The screen in the 17" pro seems duller and the top and bottom of screen lightly brighter with slight duller patches in middle of screen at left and right edges.

If I decide to keep it I might think about the swap.
