I'm sorry for the seemingly silly question, as I know none of us has a crystal ball, but I'm curious to hear any speculation about when a redesigned (not just "refreshed") 17" MBP will be released. January? Later? What's your thinking?

The longer they hold off with the 17" the better, in my honest opinion. I can only speculate, I'd suspect Apple to be cooking up something awesome for the ultimate desktop replacement MacBookPro!! Only stands to reason no?

Anyway, Perhaps they should keep the 17" true to the MacPro line... empowered by an Intel chipset.

I hope you're right about the longer wait resulting in an awesome 17" MBP. I'm not too hopeful though because the long wait for this update only seems to have left us with an underwhelming 15" MBP and no 17" at all.

Mmm. Maybe a 9400M for regular use and a 9700M for performance use.

Build in quality DACs. Dual video out (you know with a VHDCI connector).

S-IPS panel with matte option?

I'm guessing the 17" may still have a physical latch since the screen is so much heavier the magnetic "latch" may not be able to hold it.
