i have a system with these specifications

2.66GHz Intel Core I7
8GB 1066MHZ DDR3 SDRM - 2X4GB
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200
SuperDrive 8X DL
MBP 17"HR Antiglare WS Display

i like keeping up with the technology, and sell my older mac to upgrade to latest and the greatest one. but looking at this new upgrade i am not really sure if its worth an upgrade..what r your thoughts.?

There's a 10 Gbps port on the side of the new one.

But no peripherals yet that use it, unless Intel has something up it's sleeve for today's presentation.

This is a spec bump for the 15" and 17" models. It likely isn't enough to prompt replacing a 2010 model. The 13" has a bigger upgrade from a CPU standpoint (Core 2 Duo to Sandy Bridge i5/i7), but apart from the Thunderbolt port, the other hardware components are the same (screen, storage, etc.).

Don't. Unless you have a totally legitimate reason for doing this in under One Year , Wait until you need to.
