I previously had a 1ghz powerbook titanium and the fans were very quiet.

I just upgraded to a 17" powerbook 1.5 ghz.

when maxing out the processor the fans would kick in. The sequence that I would hear the fans would be the right one on....then if the temps kept rising, I would hear the left one come on.

However, when the left one comes on it "grinds", akin to a broken bearing sound.

I sent it back to apple for repairs. When I got it back, I know don't hear the right side one coming on AT ALL. Further more, the grinding is still present on the left.

My question to those with 17" PB;

1) is the sequence of fans turning on right first then left?

2) is the fan on the right audible to you?

3) when the left fan turns on does it sound similar to the right sided one or is it louder?

Thanks a bunch.
